Sport in the Cotswolds
Horses play a large part in life in the Cotswolds, and in the sporting events and facilities on offer.
Local point-to-points are relaxed events and there are several in Gloucestershire and the South West.
Horseriding lessons and ‘splendind hacks’ are available from Jill Carenza Equestrian in nearby Stanton.
Ballooning in the Cotswolds has a launch site about 10 miles away at Bourton-on-the-Water.
Golf can be played at the beautiful Broadway Golf Course and at Naunton Downs Golf Club.
Slightly further afield at Ford, The Plough Inn is another excellent, traditional Cotswold pub serving an extended range of meals. 10 minutes drive from Sheepscombe Byre.
The Black Horse Inn at Naunton is also well worth a visit. Take a moment to find the nearby historic Dovecote. 20 minutes drive from Sheepscombe Byre.
The Broadway Hotel: Situated on the Village Green, this hotel offers fine dining as well as an excellent menu served in their very comfortable bar.

Pauline sells fresh fruit and veg grown on her own land at Taddington. Look out for the colourful handcart at the end of her drive, on the road to Ford.

Theatres
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon- Avon, home of Shakespeare, offers the finest productions in the world. Stratford is a 30-40 minute drive from Sheepscombe Byre.
Malvern Theatre provides some excellent productions on their way to The West End, London. Nearly an hour a way, a trip to this theatre combines well with a walk in the Malvern Hills.

The Regal Cinema, Evesham is an award winning, beautifully restored cinema which has a special place in the hearts of those who grew up in the area. Enjoy the best films and virtuoso performances of the likes of Nigel Kennedy whilst taking a light supper with a glass of wine.
